CUBA
Just back from a business trip to Cuba. A country with its good points and bad points, but friendly people and a place for a good time.
Jose Marti - founder of the Cuban Independance Movement
Havana Bay from the eastern forts
Old Havana
Storm clouds over an empty Revolution Square - mural of 'Che' in the distance
Street bookseller, Old Havana
Every bar has its resident musicians - complete with homemade CD's
Street scene suburban Havana
These houses in Old Havana are awaiting refurbishment. Currently multiple families live in these buildings. They will be moved out to make way for tourist developments. Even in Cuba the dollar rules.
"Working Class hero is something to be" - John Lennon in Lennon Park, Havana
The USA economic embargo on Cuba takes its toll. Even though most other countries in the world disagree with it. Most people argue that all the embargo does is make the Cuban poor even poorer and just keeps Cuban exiles in Miami happy - happy enough to vote Republican in a swing state - comes on guys get real and lift the embargo
However, to cope with the shortages, Cuba has developed its own camera industry. Below is the 'Havanamatic' a direct vision, single shot camera. This one is a tuKola flavour - others are available
